The Library as a Space for Inclusion and Cultural Memory

The individual volunteering activity under the project “Young People for Strong Communities: Participation, Solidarity and Democratic Engagement”, No. 2025-1-BG01-ESC51-VTJ-000346452, implemented by the “Business Innovations for Career Development” Foundation in partnership with Asociatia “ACT Integration”, has been successfully completed.

 

The international group of volunteers supported the staff of the library at the “Obrazovanie – 1898” Community Centre in Archar. Under staff guidance, they assisted with organising and structuring the book collection, setting aside worn books for subsequent care, and improving access to cultural and information resources.

The participants explored topics related to local history and cultural memory and prepared information materials highlighting the importance of the library as a community space.

The activity linked volunteering, culture, and social inclusion. It showed how European solidarity can respond to specific local needs and contribute to the local community through volunteering and civic engagement.
