On March 7, 2026, a bilateral seminar on "Developing Skills for the Future - Cooperation between Bulgaria and Romania in Vocational Education and Training (VET)" was held in the city of Vidin. The event brought together 25 experts, teachers and students from Vidin District (Bulgaria) and Dolj County (Romania) with the aim of exchanging good practices and promoting partnerships under the Erasmus+ program in the Vocational Education and Training sector.

Mobility as an investment in your professional career

During the forum, Miroslav Lyudmilov, a representative of the National Expert Team for VET in Bulgaria, presented the strategic importance of international educational mobility. In his presentation, he emphasized that mobility is a key tool for social stability and an accelerator of personal development, which directly increases employability through the acquisition of new skills and the expansion of the professional network. Special attention was paid to the principles of the European Credit System (ECVET) and the recognition tools of knowledge, such as Europass and Youthpass, which validate the experience of non-formal learning.

Soft skills and digital technologies – a bridge to equality

The regional expert from Romania, Mirela Rusu, emphasized the role of soft skills as a determining factor for the successful realization of young people in the modern labor market.

The topic of technological transformation was developed by Tsetska Alexandrova, a teacher of vocational training at the PGT “Mihalaki Georgiev”, Vidin. Her presentation, “Level Up: Technologies as a Bridge to Equality”, analyzed how digital tools and artificial intelligence are changing the “rules of the game” in education. Alexandrova emphasized that while technologies carry risks of a “digital divide”, they also provide unprecedented opportunities for digital mentoring, personalized learning and overcoming language barriers, especially for students from marginalized communities.

Shared experience and practical benefits

An important panel of the seminar was the sharing of personal experiences by students who participated in mobility projects. Real examples illustrated the benefits of intercultural exchange and the acquisition of practical competences in a real work environment. The discussions between the representatives of Vidin and Dolj confirmed the need for enhanced cross-border cooperation for the development of skills tailored to the requirements of the European labor market.

The seminar ended with a practical exercise "My next step in Europe", aimed at planning future joint initiatives and projects that will build on the results achieved so far in the vocational education sector.
